Slow Progress

As with all things, fabulousness takes time. This has been such a fun, unique project & I anticipate it will continue to get even more exciting as finishes begin to be installed and allow the space to really take shape.

I have to admit, this is the first project ever where Cory & I have not been in 100% agreement for the finishes and ideas for the space. He seems to want the interior to match the more "rustic" exterior, and I on the other hand want the space to be a bit of a dichotomy. Rustic exterior but modern, and more of a Scandinavian/European interior -- I want a space with clean lines & minimalistic appearances with rustic touches here & there. We will see what the end result brings. I promise -- it will be just as much of a surprise for me as it is for you!

The new well came in at 400 feet deep with 100gpm. We are thankful for great water, a bit sandy -- we never hit the gravel bar we were looking for -- but great water regardless. We had to drill about 200 feet further than I hoped, but we fully expected that would be the case (and thankfully budgeted for it).

Sheet rock worked perfectly, and we were able to use left-over sheets from previous projects. They were stored with a cover -- but the moisture content was a little higher, making the 1/2" sheets more pliable & they curved to the Silo walls with ease. Thank the Lord for an amazing sheet rock crew! Our other option was to do two layers of 1/4" sheetrock, or to wet the back (paper side) of the sheetrock to allow it to bend more easily -- not ideal.

We had every intention of painting this last weekend, but plans did not go as intended. Walls were still drying from texturing & blemishes needed attention. Thank goodness as Cory came down with a cold & I certainly didn't want to tackle that task on my own.

Windows arrived yesterday (2/27) - I cannot wait to get them in - the amount of glorious sunshine coming in with just the two windows we currently have is amazing - I can't wait to see what it looks like with all the windows in (17 of them)!

I will do my best to keep everyone updated -- as of now we are hoping to have things finished by the end of May, and if our timeline moves up we will certainly let everyone know. Thank you for coming on this journey with us -- we are very excited to be able to share it with all of you!
